prepared and served to you within our beautiful Tudor beamed building dating back to 1401. Our historic building was once said to be used by the Abbey's Monks to sell their real ale made in the grounds of St Albans Abbey Cathedral. We are located just 19 miles and 22 minutes by train from Central London.
4 Nations Restaurant is an independently owned restaurant in St Albans run by the Carroll family, with Chefs and brothers Vincent & Kevin Carroll at the helm. With over 28 years in the catering in industry between them they were born and raised just outside of Mallow, County Cork in Ireland and share a love of traditional, honest & hearty food, our restaurant concept is to serve the best of English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh fayre.

We are passionate about using the best ingredients possible within our dishes and are proud to support fellow independent and local, quality suppliers and producers for everything from meat to dairy produce to vegetables and even our alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Our menu changes regularly based on seasonality and our wish to offer our diners more choice with each visit.
If you have specific dietary requirements please feel free to call ahead of your booking to discuss options with us. We do have a children's menu and lunchtime menu available for Saturdays.
Please note that we are based on the 1st floor within a beautiful listed building that is over 615 years old, our internal beams are historic and quite low - which adds to the experience and fun!
We have no lift access sadly and our washroom facilities are on the 2nd floor.
